OK - if you insist on playing with untested code then you can try this version of the RateThis module
It has a extra parameter for adding to news tags.
Now this reallly isn't a production release, there was a lot of rewriting but not a lot of testing and there's a couple of things for sure that don't work...
1. It doesn't work with heirarchy yet. It works ok if you have 'heirarchy=false' in config.php, but if you have it turned on then it just grabs the page id.
2. I've just tried deleting entries in the admin area and I seem to have broken that.
And there's bound to be other things too.
Annnndd... Calguy has now created a module with similar functionality - it would probably be worth taking a look at that first.
Give it a go though if you want and let me know how you get on.
